Halloween is a celebration of Celtic origin, taken up today by many peoples of the Western world, spreading through the Irish immigrants in the United States in the nineteenth century. It is celebrated on the night of October 31, although in some countries the holiday season varies - for example, in Sweden it is celebrated on the first Saturday in November. The name comes from English, from the phrase All Hallows' Even, the name of the Christian celebration of all the saints, a celebration with which Halloween became associated in the countries where western Christianity - Catholic and Protestant is prevalent, because in these Christian denominations the day of all saints is celebrated on November 1st.
Specific for Halloween is the carved pumpkin that is Jack's Lantern. On the occasion of this celebration, the children are hiding in wizards, mummies or other characters and wandering at houses asking "Trick or Treat?" As a threat that if they do not get sweets, the caroling person will play a hoax. In other countries Halloween is celebrated through parades and carnivals.
